Bratwurst:
Please don't overcook! That's the most common mistake in preparing brats. And don't pierce brats with a fork or knife, or the essential juices will run away.
On the grill:
Frozen brats can be placed on a preheated grill with the heat reduced to medium. Turn frequently. Cook for approximately 45 minutes, or until done.
Or parboil:
Place brats in a pan of cold water; bring to a boil, then simmer 20 minutes. Instead of water, brats can be parboiled in beer, or a combination of beer, water and onions. Take parboiled brats and place on grill set at medium for 15 20 minutes or until browned with an internal temperature of 166 160 degrees fahrenheit.
If parboiled brats are not going on the grill right away, refrigerate them.
Or, in a frying pan:
Fry brats in beer with chopped onions for 20 minutes at medium heat.
Sausages:
To simmer:
Thaw sausage ring. Put 2" of water in a pan and bring to a boil. Place ring in pan and reduce heat to simmer for approximately 45 minutes or until done.
To bake:
Ring can be baked in oven at medium heat.
